Welcome to our final TOUCH OF PINK for a while …. Hopefully we’ll be back in December, but there are no guarantees in this this life so we are going out with a bang !!! …lots of familiar tracks but some great new mixes . My particular favourites are the Oakenfold mix of Madonna new single ,  the Wideboys mix of Estelle , the new mixes for Rihanna and Ricki Lee, and remixes of golden oldies from Dolly , Bros and CHARLENE !!!!!! And is Bryn Christopher the new AMY WINEHOUSE … the song sounds familiar and the voice is smoking !!!!

1.    SHOW : FOLLIES : for those who saw this Production Company presentation you’ll know how brilliant it was . A wonderful Sondheim musical featuring the show stopper Losing My Mind amongst others, and a cast that included Debra Byrne , Judy Connelli , Patti Newton and so many more troopers singing their hearts out . Solid gold !!!!

OOT & ABOOT : SHOWS & FILMS ETC. 

1.    FILM : THE BAND’S VISIT : A feelgood movie of an Egyptian classical band travelling to Israel for some cultural performance , however they land in the wrong town , and are at the mercy of the residents hospitality . Fortunately it all turns out well , but a lovely film , and it just goes to show how it could be possible for us all to love together in peace !!!!!!
2.    FILM : THE DARK KNIGHT : What a tour de force for Heath Ledger , but also great performances all round in this very dark and exciting re-telling of the Batman fight with The Joker . A must-see for fans of the genre .
3.    FILM : LOVE STORY 2050 : At over 3 hours , you really get value for money . Basically two movies in one , the first  is the love story that develops between a very attractive girl and boy . It is set in Adelaide (except for a rollercoaster ride which was filmed in Melbourne ) . After an accident to the girl , the boys gets on a time machine , to go into the future (2050) to get her to come back in time before her accident . Logic isn’t really an issue , cos there are lots of great star-wars type futuristic citiy sets , lots of singing and dancing , and some very cute eye candy . What more can you ask for ?
4.    PLAY : THE ADVENTURE OF BUTT BOY & TIGGER : The new play from Steven Dawson , and very witty , clever and funny . Just an hour long , and a simple stage setting with two guys getting to know each other in a gay chat room . But the writing was excellent , and had most of the audience including us ,  in hysterics . For a fun night this is highly recommended . Catch it before it heads off to the Edinburgh Festival .

ASSORTED REVIEWS :

1.    MOVIE : HAPPY GO LUCKY : A great little film about a younf London girl who is the eternal optimnist … she gets a bit annoying at times , but her heart’s in the right place . It’s a slow build but explodes in some heavy emotions , Worth considering if you like those feelgood artsy movies .
2.    EXHIBITION : ART DECO @ NGV : A very interesting exhibition for those interested in the art deco period …. A wide cross section of exhibits from the jewellery , art , clothing , furniture etc . A good feel for the period and the style . And lots of souvenirs to purchase in the NGV shop .

OOT & ABOOT : SHOWS & FILMs 

1.    FILM : GET SMART : Loved it … not as good as the TV show , but they have made a fun film , and if you are a Steve Carrell fan you’ll enjoy this .
2.    FILM : UNFINISHED SKY : A bit slow getting round tyo this , but worth seeing . A good Aussie film with a good plot ... It’s about an illegal refugee who flees her captors and ends up on a farm with a rather damaged character . They form a bond that leads them both to an exciting conclusion .
3.    FILM : MAMA MIA : Very very very corny , but if you’re up for it , it’s a lot of fun . It’s about hearing those ABBA songs again , and seeing some hunky stars getting older , not to mention THE WEDDING , and who doesn’t love a wedding ? But mostly it’s about the songs ……
